Mount Shasta, California - friendship and tranquility

We are 22 days away from starting our Global Experience… obviously not enough to do to prepare we are jumping down to California for 3 nights. It does offer another practice run of packing light. We love visiting our close friends Ed and Kim in Mt. Shasta. We love them, we admire their relationship with each other, and we have so much respect for how magnificent a relationship they have with their 3 children. Add to that we find hanging out with them, Mt Shasta soaring into the sky above us, and exploring a nearby hike (aka walk!) is just the separation from city life we seek.

Today was no different. We did the quick flight from Seattle to Medford, Oregon (1 hour, 7 mins of flight time) and then the 90 minute drive from Medford to Mt. Shasta, California. It is a beautiful dive through the mountains along a lot quieter part of I-5 then you endure each day in Seattle peak hour!

We are also reminded of the virtues of regional airports. From the time we landed, potty breaks for the whole team of 5, picked up the checked crib and car seats, picked up the rental car and walked out the doors to get into the car was ~30 minutes!

I am still working a transition contract with my previous company. The intrusion of the calls is definitely a struggle. It is not just the calls, it is the impact it has on my attention before and after the calls that is probably more frustrating as I prepare and then reflect on the call(s). I love the people on the teams I managed and that is why you try to help on a transition, the impact on my family and my day is something I am working on getting better at living through!
