48 hours to lift off... we are seriously going to do this!?!?!

We are packing for our road trip to Iowa. As Whitney (born in Iowa) likes to say “all good things start in Iowa”, so that is our first destination on this journey.

The final week has ramped up the emotions. Whitney climbed the biggest hill, her last day of work was Monday June 24. She finished with a 12 hour day, on the back of days of being on-call at the hospital (think 24 hour availability with 6-8 hours actually at the hospital). So a major milestone for her along with the fatigue of intense work and doing all the other day-to-day activities + preparing for our journey!

Scarlett is in her last week of kindergarten, with tomorrow (Thursday June 27) being her last day. Wow that year has gone fast and it is great to see her in the groove at school, learning and maturing. Hope we can experience a similar level of growth with her this coming year, it is one of my biggest hopes for this experience is to see and contribute to her development. Will be interesting to see what sort of role she allows me to play!

Nora, 3 year old, is our optimistic energizer bunny. She is fired up and ready for each day. Today she is off to the Seattle aquarium and Pike Place Market to explore. She will no doubt be leading the tour with Selina (nanny) and Australia Grandma (my Mum) following along. I am excited to try and match Nora’s energy and engagement in this year adventure. If I can approach her level of play, presence and enthusiasm I will have over achieved my own goals for personal development.

Hazel, 4 month old, is going well and I am already experiencing time with her that I rarely, perhaps never, had with Scarlett and Nora. Looking forward to seeing how it goes with her in these month on the road.
